There are about five types of Dolphins often found at Midway;
– Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus): One of the most well-known species, they are widespread and can be found in both open ocean and coastal areas.
–Spinner Dolphin (Stenella longirostris): Recognizable by their acrobatic spins when they leap from the water, spinner dolphins are common in tropical oceans.
–Pantropical Spotted Dolphin (Stenella attenuata): As the name suggests, these dolphins are found throughout tropical oceans and have a distinct spotted pattern as adults.
– Rough-toothed Dolphin (Steno bredanensis): They have a unique jawline and teeth, making them distinct from other dolphin species.
– Striped Dolphin (Stenella coeruleoalba): Characterized by their striking blue and white stripes, they’re found in tropical and temperate oceans.
