Housing Areas

When Midway was fully operation Navy Base, the island population was about 3,500 people. Island Housing was issued dependent on rank. This page offers several links for the various types of housing quarters.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service demolished two Historic Marine Barracks, without following proper protocol.
The US Fish and Wildlife Service had demolished 4 or 5 Historic Cable Station Housing.
The US Fish and Wildlife Service has demolished all Barrack Housing, except for BOQ-C. The 3rd floor of BOQ-C has been off-limits, due to falling concrete falling from the ceilings and water leaking from the electrical outlets. BOQ-Charlie is the only remaining Barracks to accommodate visitor to the island.
