The George Cannon School

The George Cannon School open when the island was a fully operational Navy Base. In earlier times, one of the Cable House Buildings served as a school for a small number of school kids. The George Cannon School was built to accommodate dependents of Navy personnel, when the island population was as large as about 3,500. The George Cannon School was demolished as a part of the BRAC project, when about 101 buildings were demolished, just prior to when the Navy made their exit from the island, in 1996.
