Midway Phoenix Corp maintained all electronic systems on the island. The Communication Department installed and maintained the island’s first cellular phone system. The Communications Department also installed new aircraft communication systems, aircraft navigation systems and an automated weather reporting system. The MPC Communication Department also installed 11 channels of cable TV.

After MPC made their exit from the island, on May 1, 2002, the cellular phone system was dismantled and taken to the dump.
